How to preserve the foundation for the winter?

But perhaps the most difficulties arise precisely with the zero cycle and the device of the basement. So, in this regard, a reasonable question arises – how to preserve the foundation for the winter?

The main task in this case is to protect the foundation from the effects of moisture and atmospheric precipitation. What measures to preserve can be taken? Make waterproofing the structure, ensure its thermal insulation, as well as take soil water to drain the soil adjacent to the foundation.

Depending on the type of foundation, there are various nuances of these works. Thus, the waterproofing of the strip type foundation can be performed using roller materials, for example, roofing material. However, this method is not always quite reliable. Therefore, for strip foundations, it is recommended to use coating insulation, using bitumen-polymer mastic. In this case, the insulation will not exfoliate, as is often the case with rolled materials. However, the surface of the foundation with the inflicted layer of insulation will need to be wrapped in textiles, so that when filling the pit not damage the insulation.

The foundations of the slab type are insulated and protected from moisture at the construction stage. This is done immediately after installing the formwork, before the concrete gets onto the foundation plate. Only after laying waterproofing and insulation begin to fill the concrete.

To preserve the foundation, the foundation pit is poured with soil, but the holes arranged at the base for the subsequent laying of communications are pre -closed. If some of the networks are already mounted, the holes are covered with special construction plugs and wound with polyethylene.

Water drainage is carried out using the construction of drains and grooves. To do this, on the site you need to choose a place for which water will be removed – usually below the depth of the foundation. The grooves are arranged around the entire perimeter of the foundation, and it is perpendicular to the channel by it, at a distance of half a meter from the house.
