The slate uses asbestos, cement and water. Due to the distribution of asbestos fibers in a cement mortar, a reinforcing mesh is formed, which makes this material strong. You can make a small repair of small chips and cracks yourself. There is a fairly simple and proven way. Before you start repairs, the roof must be cleaned, with the help of the brush, rinse well with water. Then it is necessary to primer the surface of the roof with a mixture of water and PVA glue, in a proportion of 1: 3. In order to prepare the repair mixture, you need PVA glue, a flooded asbestos and water. We prepare such a portion in small volumes to develop it in two hours, otherwise it will freeze. For preparation, we take the cement 1-2 parts, add the asbestos of 3 parts and pour the solution in the proportion of 1: 1 PVA glue with water. The mixture should turn out like sour cream. When applying to the surface, the layer of the mixture should be at least 2 mm. It is better to carry out such repair in the weather calm and cloudy. After such a repair, your roof will last another ten years.
