Types of glazing balconies and loggias: installation of metal frames (trolleybus option)
To obtain stable frames that can withstand significant loads, and at the same time affordable, steel structures were used several decades ago. At the same time, the frames were attached to the enclosing structures using welding. This version of glazing received another name – trolleybus, since glass for such frames was usually rounded, and the elimination of gaps and looseness between glass and frame was carried out using rubber seals. The appearance of the balconies glazed in this way (loggias) had an original and even avant -garde appearance, so metal frames were in demand.
Despite the strength of metal frames, such glazing also has a number of significant drawbacks. Due to the fact that the design is made of glass and metal, such glazing does not hold well. In addition, such frames have uncomfortable constipation, and the sizes of the glasses in them are smaller than in similar wooden structures, so a little worse and lighting on such a balcony (loggia). It should also be noted that metal frames require careful care, they need to be emphasized and painted in time, otherwise under the influence of external environment (rain, snow, increased humidity), the frames will corrode and collapse.
